From the Sagrada Família to the old town, the changing architecture gave the three-hour route a clear story. A good introduction to different sides of Barcelona.

The experience
What makes this tour special
Begin at Plaça de Gaudí and explore the Sagrada Família’s façades: the first two stops are in the same area. Then take one short L5 metro journey from Sagrada Família through Verdaguer to Diagonal, just two stops. Continue on foot from La Pedrera to Casa Batlló and down towards the cathedral and Gothic Quarter, linking Gaudí’s architecture with the city’s earlier history over three hours. Metro and monument admission are separate.
- Sagrada Família, Gaudí’s houses and the Gothic Quarter
- Three hours linking distinct neighbourhoods
- Casa Batlló and La Pedrera: Gaudí’s distinctive designs
- One language per group, up to 20 guests
Your route
Your tour, stop by stop
Explore the stops below. Select a number to connect the route with its story.
Start beside the Sagrada Família with an introduction to Gaudí and the history of the basilica. This first stop and the next are in the same Sagrada Família area; there is no metro journey between them.
Explore the façades with your guide, connecting the Nativity, Glory and Passion to the basilica’s history. Finish this part at the Sagrada Família before the single metro journey to the next stop.
Between stops 2 and 3, take L5 from Sagrada Família through Verdaguer to Diagonal: two stops, in one direction. Walk to La Pedrera to explore its sculpted stone façade. Bring a valid metro ticket or travel card; it is not included.
Continue on foot down Passeig de Gràcia to Casa Batlló. Compare its colours, balconies and natural forms with La Pedrera, observing the house from the public pavement. There is no further metro journey.
Keep walking towards the old city, without returning up Passeig de Gràcia. Discover the cathedral at Plaça Nova, Carrer del Bisbe and the squares of the Gothic Quarter. Finish around Plaça Sant Jaume, connecting modernisme with Barcelona’s earlier history.

I enjoyed linking Gaudí’s buildings with the Gothic Quarter. It is a walking route with a metro transfer, so plan your own valid travel ticket.
Comparing Casa Batlló and La Pedrera was especially interesting. Their contrasting designs gave us plenty to discuss about Gaudí’s ideas.
The old town was a lovely contrast to Passeig de Gràcia. Connecting both in one tour made their different periods and character stand out.
There is a lot to see in three hours. I liked the variety, but I would wear comfortable shoes and avoid planning another long activity immediately afterwards.
The explanations connected places I would otherwise have visited separately. The route felt like an introduction to the city rather than isolated photo stops.
